I finally made it here & I am so glad I did! This is a wonderful resource for readers & parents! I want to read these to my big kids again & for the first time! I love your word lists & thoughtful concise descriptions! Easy to digest yet so powerful! Awesome job! I look forward to getting the updates in my email, yay!
Thank you, Dad! I remember reading and loving ‘Big Blue Frog’ when I stayed with you this summer. I didn’t have vocabulary in mind, so I’ll revisit it. I LOVE poetry for vocabulary teaching, too! I hadn’t thought of Shel Silverstein. Great ideas. Thank you for taking the time to post them here.
Maria, you are the best! Thank you for making my day!

My eight- and six- year-old daughters loved “The Light Princess,” by George MacDonald. I was shocked by the challenging vocabulary, but it’s so well written that the kids understood it without having to stop and define words every other minute. Thanks for writing this blog! I’m always looking for suggestions.
Thank you, Sarah! I have never read ‘The Light Princess’, but it sounds like a perfect candidate for this project. I’ll get it soon. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know about it. If you run across any others, let me know. Happy reading.

“Everything On It” and “Runny Babbit” are two of my favorite Shel Silverstein books.
Also most recently I got a copy of “Big Blue Frog”
